For our 30th anniversary, we decided to revisit the Mira Monte, a charming mid-Victorian era inn in Bar Harbor's historic corridor, where we stayed twice on earlier trips to Acadia National Park. The"Happy Anniversary" card and bouquet of flowers and assortment of chocolates and mementos found in our room on arrival was just the perfect personal welcoming touch. Our cozy and immaculate room had a well-furnished private bath and a little shaded deck overlooking the large rear grounds. We enjoyed taking lunch on the deck, with wholesome foods obtained at the nearby A&B Naturals market. What more could a couple from Virginia want, tired by the long drive to Bar Harbor and the challenges of hurricane post-tropical cyclone Irene?
The Mira Monte breakfast is truly fabulous, hearty home-made wholesome food that caters to every palate, served in open-buffet style in a friendly and elegant Victorian-historic setting. Included during our four-day stay: nut-fruit granola, warm oatmeal porridge, pancakes with crème fraîche, steam- cooked hard eggs, egg bakes (meat & meatless), zucchini nut bread, blueberry peach cobbler, fresh fruit salad, cottage cheese, wild Maine blueberries, blueberry pudding, Maine maple syrop, blueberry muffins, maple sour cream muffins, bagels and other breads, orange juice, coffee, teas (served in English bone china). More about the Mira Monte breakfast.
Late each afternoon, owner/innkeeper Marian Burns hosts a complimentary wine & cheese meet & greet social for her guests in the Inn's elegant parlor, an opportunity to share recommendations on restaurants, hikes and scenic drives around the area.
The Mira Monte Inn atmosphere is truly friendly, welcoming and cheerful. Owner/innkeeper Marian Burns and office manager Kathy are most gracious persons, making you feel at home. Born, raised and educated in Bar Harbor, Marian is always available to advise her guests about how to best spend their time in Bar Harbor and the surrounding Acadia National Park, as well as places to go to for a memorable dining experience.
The Acadia outdoors are awesome! Here's a sampler.
